the Vipava River fishing district


The Vipava River fishing district starts at the dam in Kasovlje and ends at the national border with Italy. It is divided into three parts: salmonid, miscellaneous and cyprinid.
The first part (salmonid) is the home of marble trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling and hybrids.
The second part (miscellaneous) is the home of salmonids and cyprinids.
The third part (cyprinid) is the populated by wels catfish, tench, barbel, grass carp, carp, north-Adriatic chub, Danubian nase, pike, eel, …

Daily catch limit: The daily catch limit is three salmonids, of which no more than one can be a rainbow trout over 50 cm, one grayling over 35 cm and one hybrid over 45 cm.

1. (salmonid) part – the Vipava River fishing district
Fishing district 1 Vipava River – Salmonid part: open from 1.4 to 31.10 - 31.10.


The salmonid part stretches from the dam in Kasovlje to the Island in Batuje and is divided in two sectors:
Sector 2: from the dam in Kasovlje to the affluent from the old riverbed in the Vipava River:
Allowed fishing methods: fly fishing with one artificial fly and fishing with spinners (no. 3 and bigger).

Sector 2 (catch and release): from the affluent of the old riverbed in the Vipava River to the Island in Batuje:
Allowed fishing methods: fly fishing with one artificial fly on a barbless hook.
The fishermen who writes in the Vipava River fishing district (sector 2 - catch and release) in the permit can fish in the whole area of the fishing districts 1 and 2 provided that he uses the catch & release technique in other fishing districts, too.

Fishing district 2 Vipava River – Miscellaneous part:


The miscellaneous part stretches from the Island in Batuje to the mouth of the Lijak Brook and is divided into three sectors:
Sector 1: from the Island to the dam in Batuje.
Allowed fishing methods: fly-fishing with one artificial fly, fishing with spinners (no. 3 and bigger) and artificial lures (silicon fish) longer than 7 cm.
Sector 2: from the dam in Batuje to the road bridge in the village of Saksid.
Allowed fishing methods: fly fishing with one artificial fly.
Sector 3: from the road bridge in the village of Saksid to the mouth of the Lijak Brook.
Allowed fishing methods: fly-fishing with one artificial fly, fishing with spinners (no. 3 and bigger) and artificial lures (silicon fish) longer than 7 cm.
Reserve in the sector 3: from the bridge where the road turns for the village Gradišče v Prvačini to the village Arčoni fishing is prohibited.

Fishing district 3 Vipava River – Cyprinid part


The cyprinid part stretches from the mouth of the Lijak brook to the national border with Italy in Miren.
All lures of vegetal or animal origin are allowed except bone worm and animal blood. On a fishing day a fishermen is allowed to catch 5 coarse fish, among which a maximum of: two carps or one pike or eight Danubian nases or two wels catfish per day. One coarse fish is equal to 30 bleaks, roaches or perches.
